Ask before you glue

The questions parents and gift-givers ask us most, answered without the small print.

What comes in a Klutz kit?

A book of step-by-step instructions and the materials for the projects in it: clay, felt, floss, LEGO elements, paints or whatever that craft calls for. A few kits need ordinary household things too, such as an oven for oven-bake clay, scissors or a fork. Each kit page lists what is in the box.

What age are Klutz kits for?

Klutz Jr. kits start at four. Most art and sticker kits suit six and up, clay and LEGO kits eight and up, and the Sew Mini kits with a real needle are best from ten. The age on each page is the one we suggest for working mostly alone; younger kids can join in with a helper.

Do Klutz LEGO kits include the LEGO bricks?

Yes. LEGO Gear Bots, LEGO Gadgets, LEGO Race Cars, LEGO Gravity Drop and LEGO Mini Golf include the elements needed for every build in the book. LEGO Chain Reactions includes its special elements and also uses a handful of basic bricks from your own collection.

Which clay kits need an oven?

Mini Clay World Cute Café, Make Clay Charms and Make Your Own Mini Erasers use clay that is baked in a home oven with an adult’s help. Air-Dry Clay Animal Party and Whipped Clay Froyo Shop harden on their own in the open air.

Is sewing experience needed for the Sew Mini kits?

No. Every sewing book starts with threading the needle and the two or three stitches the projects use. Patterns, felt, floss, needles and stuffing are included.

How do I buy a kit from this site?

Each kit has a red buy button. It opens that kit’s listing at our partner store, where you check out. Payment, delivery and returns are handled there, under the store’s own terms.

Why might the price differ from the one shown here?

We print the price from our most recent check. The partner store updates prices often, so the listing always has the final, current figure.

Can a kit be shared between siblings?

Often, yes. Kits that make many small things, such as Mini Erasers, Puffy Stickers, Sew Mini Treats and Pom-Pom Food Animals, split easily across a table. Build kits like Gravity Drop are better as a team project.

Is Klutz part of Scholastic?

Yes. Klutz was founded independently in Palo Alto in 1977 and has been part of Scholastic since 2002.

How do I reach you?

Write to contact@klutz-7iy.pages.dev. For questions about an order that has already been placed, the partner store’s order page is the quickest route, because the order lives there.
